Assessing Intercultural Competences:
Intercultural Readiness Check®
The Intercultural Readiness Check® (IRC) is a valid and reliable intercultural assessment tool which assesses individuals on four intercultural competences. The individual IRC feedback will help you to better understand how you currently approach intercultural interactions and how to further develop your intercultural competence.
The IRC is based on four vital intercultural competences:
The degree to which a person takes an active interest in others: their cultural background, needs and perspective and how they express themselves.
The degree to which a person actively monitors how she or he communicates.
The degree to which people actively try to influence their social environment, based on a concern for building relationships and integrating different people and their concerns.
The degree wo which a person sees the uncertainty and complexity of culturally diverse environments as an opportunity for personal development.
The result of the IRC is a written personal feedback with detailed suggestions for developing the IRC competences. What do you do well, what do you find difficult, and how can you further develop your intercultural competences? The IRC is most effective when being combined with an individual debriefing session.
With by now more than 45,000 respondents from 14 industries and 130 countries, the IRC database allows you to benchmark your teams and your organization by learning about levels of intercultural competence within your industry and across industries.
The IRC is accessible online, is available in eight languages (English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese) and takes only 20 minutes to complete.
Intercultures wide network of IRC-licensed trainers allows us to use the tool for process consulting, coaching and trainings in different contexts.
